Sam Lee is a Korean-Canadian photographer who primarily looks for pictures in places that are flooded at least knee deep in collective memory and nostalgia. Through this work, he attempts to draw attention to the thin veneer of surrealism that has been carefully applied over all surfaces of the familiar and everyday. Currently, he is based in Tio’Tia:Ke/Mooniyang/Montréal.

Preferring the traditional photographic processes, he makes optical c-type prints in his colour darkroom, primarily utilizing 4x5 large format and 6x7 medium format colour negative film. He has been developing his practice since 2022.
